We are fans of the majestic beauty of Cumbria but without doubt we have to recognise that the weather can mean that you have to call off your walk whether it be at the bottom of the mountain or even before you start your trip
If you are already on a walking holiday in Cumbria then you are fully committed to the vagries of the weather. On the one hand we recommend patience and optimism because as the saying goes: if you do like the weather in Cumbria, wait five minutes. On the other hand you can consider a walking holiday in the sun in a Mediterranean country.
By far the most popular destination is Italy and with good reason. However we would like to recommmend other alternatives which offer a similar quality of trekking however you are far less likely to meet other walkers. Obviously you may lover to meet fellow walking folk and so have a totally different opinion.
Anyway, it may surprise you to learn that we recommend walking holiday in the sun of Spain, yes the Spanish sun where every Brit and his dog goes on holiday or has been on holiday. The point is that Spain has a wonderful almost undiscovered interior ideal for walking holidays.
If you want solitude and perhaps a more authentic experience, you only need to compare the number of organised walking holidays available in Italy compared to holidays offered in Spain.
